My first baby was born by C-Section because her heart rate kept dropping after the doctor broke my water when I was 5 centimeters. I’m pregnant with my second child & recently my best friend asked me if I was going to schedule another C-Section or try for a VBAC- which she told me means “vaginal birth after cesarean.” I didn’t think you could have a vaginal birth once you’ve had a C-Section? I’d like to consider it, since I was really disappointed at having to have a C-Section the first time, but is it safe?   ~Dawn F.

Dear Midwives,

I’m worried about the weight gain that’s going to happen with my pregnancy, but I also want to make sure that I gain enough to grow a healthy baby. How much weight should I gain with the pregnancy?

Dear Midwives,

Sometimes I get a sharp pain low in my belly, on the right or left side. I notice when I get up quickly from a chair, or when I sneeze, and the other day it was bad when I was on the toilet. Does it mean something is wrong with my pregnancy?

Dear Midwives,

I’m confused about what is the best and safest way for me to get enough of those omega fatty acids that are supposed to help the baby’s brain  development. Should I take fish oil since there is mercury in fish?
